Burano…

About an hour out of Venice by ferry lies Burano. This small island in the Venetian Lagoon is famous for its vividly coloured houses, traditionally painted so fishermen could identify their homes through the fog.

The result is a wonderfully photogenic place, alive with colour, canals, and bridges. Beyond its visual appeal, Burano has a proud tradition of lace-making, celebrated in its Lace Museum and in the small local shops that still carry the craft forward.
